Summer brings a lot of changes for most families, ours is no exception. We typically take June off as a family break from the regular home education schedule. This year we have already traveled to Arizona and Sam is home with us for the next few weeks. Everyone just seemed itching to do some personal projects so we made a trip to Wal-mart and Lowe's to get some supplies and here is what everyone is doing.
Duck Tape
"I don't believe in much, but I believe in Duct Tape." ~ Miles on the final episode of Lost.
There are a lot of cool colors out there for Duct Tape. Here are some of the plans we used for our first projects before we started doing our own designs. Duct Tape Woven Purse and Cute Duct Tape Purse
Marshmallow Guns and Nunchucks
The nunchucks are solid wood from a piece of dowel he had already. I was a little concerned about having him practice with these in the house. I wish he would have used a softer substance!
ha ha fun! I always wanted to make a duck tape purse!~ I love all the colors they have
ReplyDeleteThose look like great projects, but you need to be careful of shouting hurray for duct tape when you live in the sticks ;-) There were a million little jokes running through my head at first, that if I didn't know exactly how classy you are would have been really funny, particularly following a Bass Pro shop post! Lookout Red Green!
ReplyDeleteYes - I know about the duct tape jokes. There are areas of serious red necks around here, including people with cars duct taped together. In general, everyone in our area is regular people.
ReplyDeleteI thought you might wonder about the Bass Pro Shop post. We went to see the animals mostly, kind of like a free zoo! (I mean real animals, not people.) LOL!
That is a relief! I was worried there for a minute. Ryan was talking about the dangers of running into a Yeti in the boonies of Missouri! Then we found out it was just a local hairy man without a shirt! LOL
ReplyDeleteTurns out the township started a petition because of all of the national enquirer photographers roaming the area and reunited the man with his shirt shortly afterward, although I hear the Smithsonian has been contacted
;-) HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!!
Seriously though, we wish we were there in all of that green!
Those are some great ideas! My boys would love to make more marshmallow guns. At the AZ state fair there is a whole section of duct tape things now. I was amazed at what people were doing with that now!
ReplyDeleteJen - it cost less than $9 for the three marshmallow guns. All you need after that is a ruler and a hacksaw. One of the cheapest projects we've had I think.
ReplyDeleteI'll be posting tomorrow about the marshmallow canon Chris and his friend made. Now all the scouts want to make them and come over to our "bunkers" to have a marshmallow war.
